Monday Mania – 2.29.2016

It is officially the last 29th of February until 2020! I have seen a large number of errors being made when writing the date today. There are a bunch of people who want it to be March already.

There is not much to report for me this week.

I worked, I played, and I got soaked trying to fix the shower. I don’t know what I was thinking but I over tightened the screw that controls the water. When I went to loosen it, I turned the water on and it sprayed all over me. Luckily, I still have pretty good reflexes and I was able to limit the amount of water that covered me. If nothing else, it was good for a laugh.

My oldest son has battled some medical problems for almost a decade now. This week has been pretty good for him. It’s probably the best week he has had in the last year and a half. We have seen great improvement in his personality and demeanor. This is truly a blessing from God. We have struggled to get to this point. I pray that things continue down this path. Your prayers are always appreciated as well.

I hope that y’all have a great week!

MY FINDS FOR LAST WEEK:

20 Steps: The Ultimate Guide to Becoming a Prepper – This is not a supply list. These 20 steps are actionable and a great way to establish your emergency preparedness.

101 Frugal Items You Need For Survival – Affordability is a key component to purchasing supplies and gear. I like this list because it is no nonsense and straight to the point.

Thinking of Starting a Prepper Network? Think Again! – An interesting look at the pitfalls of forming a mutual assistance group (MAG) or prepper network. I’m still going to stick with my thoughts that community is the only way to overcome a crisis.

DIY $20 Survival Food Bucket – $20 for a bucket of food? I’m in! There is some good information here about the value of storing real food and how to do so.

How Dependent Are You On Electricity? – Have you ever stopped to really evaluate the number of items that are used on a daily basis and plan what you would do if those items were not available? This article covers many of those every day items and provides some suggestions on how to work around not having a dependable source of electricity.

Practical Preparedness- Simple steps you can take today to prepare your family for whatever may come

Prepper’s Threat Analysis – Establishing Prepping Priorities – Always have a firm grasp on what may come next and what you need to do to be prepared for it.

How This Man Converted “Underground Shelter Using a 20 Ft. Shipping Container”

Atlanta Business Owner Gives All of His Employees a Gun – I personally like this idea but, I could see how (especially in our world today) this could lead to future problems for Mr. Toland. After all, “they made me do something against my beliefs” is a great foundation for a lawsuit these days.

God forbid, the complainant happens to also be LGBTQ or a Muslim. How dare they have to carry a weapon. It’s the religion of peace. (That is not what I was thinking when a Muslim was shooting at us with an AK-47 in the middle east.) It all would just make better fodder for the MSM.

Utilizing 12v DC Systems for Primary or Emergency Power – An interesting perspective on using an alternator as the center of an off grid power system. I can see the advantages but you will still need a motor of some type.

MORE MADNESS IN THE WORLD:

Is Political Correctness Literally Killing Our Society?

Obama Opens the Border to More STDs – This is only part of what scares me about my children’s, and future generations, wellbeing. Even if they escape the atrocities that are overcoming our world, as we continue to accept things (after all, they are treatable), it is only going to increase the rate of occurrence of these diseases.

WHY DO WE DO THIS TO OURSELVES?!?!?!?!?!

Mega Retailers Close Stores: Hard to Shop “When People Are Just Trying to Pay Their Mortage” – My expectation is that this is only a preview of what is to come. I recommend taking a look at The Alpha Strategy and making a plan to invest in your future with physical goods as they become harder and harder to obtain in local areas.

Germany Admits They Have Lost Track of 130,000 Refugees – Whether the numbers are accurate or not, this is a legitimate concern. I think that this gives us a preview of what is to come. No one could definitively say where all of the immigrants and visa holders (current and lapsed) are at in the U.S., right?

Zuckerberg’s Virtual Reality Photo: Our Future in the Matrix – This is really not that far fetched. We certainly are headed in a direction where this is probable.

TIN FOIL HAT TIME?

Beware Twitter Users: Your Tweets Help the Government Predict the Future – I would not doubt it.

In this weeks edition of Monday Mania: 4 Steps to True Freedom and Independence, China Buying US Farmland and The Lesson of Hengist and Vortigern, The Role of Religion in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election, Food Freedom: Backyard Strategies You Can Try Today, & 14 More

Monday Mania – 2.22.2016

It seems hard to believe that it has been a week already since the last Monday Mania. Last week was nice because of the holiday on Monday. I wish I could work a four day work week every week. At this point it does not look like that will happen anytime soon, if ever.

Aside from a busy week at work, I mostly hung out with family and did a little woodworking. My two youngest sons (6 & 10) have been playing with the Nerf dart guns in the neighborhood with some other kids and they insisted that they needed a riot shield, like the ones used by the police, to block enemy fire. It was fun and they are enjoying them so that is all that matters. If I can remember, I will post a picture of one next week.

I also have a future project in mind that will require a fair quantity of 2 x 4 dimensional lumber. This is not horrifically expensive but it will cost money. I noticed there were two houses that were being framed not too far from our house so I waiting until the completion of the framing and then asked the crew if I could help myself to their “trash.” I was able to salvage quite a few pieces of 2 x 4. This is something to keep in mind when working on projects of your own, not everything has to be new all the time and why spend money on something that you could get for free?

Maybe I am just practicing my salvaging skills for the post-apocalyptic world.

I hope that y’all have a great week!

MY FINDS FOR LAST WEEK:

4 Steps to True Freedom and Independence – While short and to the point, if you can master these four steps you will probably end up better off than 99% of the rest of the population.

China Buying US Farmland and The Lesson of Hengist and Vortigern – A good warning to heed. But don’t worry, I don’t think that Americans will wake up until it is already too late. It’s already not looking good and I can only imagine what it will look like going forward.

Here is more information on the Consolidation and Collectivization of American Agriculture.

The Role of Religion in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election – This is a very interesting look at how religious beliefs are shifting in the United States and how this will play a role in the presidential election this year. Reading this, my thoughts immediately shifted to the Pilgrims and how this shift could eventually lead to a similar scenario for Christians in America. Not by coincidence, the speaker in this case is also the author of a book titled, The End of White Christian America.

Food Freedom: Backyard Strategies You Can Try Today – You will notice that this ties in with the link above about true freedom and independence,

Agrihoods: The Self Sufficient Alternative to Suburbia – Those of you who do not care for golf will not have an issue with this concept.

“Simple Offers Freedom”: Building a $500 Cabin Without a Permit

“You Should Be Very Worried, You Should Be Prepared” Warns Jim Rogers – It is warnings like these that further encourage my belief in the Alpha Strategy.

Collapsing Venezuela Is Out of Food: “Prepping Became Illegal”, Long Lines Mandatory – Learn from others and take appropriate actions to avoid a similar situation in your own life.

27 Basecamp Projects Guaranteed to Elevate Skills and Fun in the Woods – I am definitely going to try carve a spoon. I just need a tree. Maybe the neighbors won’t notice?

It’s Getting Crazy Out There – Don’t Be Distracted! An Open Letter to Family & Friends – I may have shared this before but if I did, it is still worth sharing again.

North America, Time for a New Focus – This is a project that was chaired by General (RET) David Petraeus and focused on the importance of a North American alliance to sustain our position in the world and how working with our neighbors to the north and south is the ticket to doing so successfully.

On a side note, General Petraeus is the greatest leader that I have ever worked for. Aside from any transgressions, I would not hesitate to follow him just about anywhere.

Survival Sunday – 3/15/2015

Survival Sunday

I wanted to start this week’s segment off by mentioning the fact that if you missed the pilot episode of Survivalist Prepper TV (SPTV) that aired yesterday, you can still watch it. I may be biased because I was in it, but I had a blast and I think there was some definite value provided. I would like to say thank you to Dale and Lisa from Survivalist Prepper for having me. If you would like to see Episode 01 of SPTV, you can catch it here.

Besides being one step closer to being an Internet sensation, I have not been up to much. (It is a very small step on a road I am not looking to go down.) The week has been good but long and filled with the responsibilities of having a family and a real job.

I did get the SunBell Solar Lamp & Phone Charger this week. Expect to see a review in the next few days.

Here are this weeks finds:

Stockpiling of Food Banned in Venezuela – Just scan your fingerprint when you check out at the grocery store…no big deal right? Things are not looking good in Venezuela and while that isn’t great, it could be worse if our government thinks its a good idea and wants to follow suit.

‘Idle Car’ Bill in NY Pays Citizens to Record, Snitch on Drivers – Not so surprising but another ridiculous bill has been proposed by a New York City Councilwoman. I guess you can just add this to the, ‘If you see something, say something’ campaign. Maybe someday people will get tired of this utter nonsense?

What Do They Know? Why Are So Many Of The Super Wealthy Preparing Bug Out Locations? – There seems to have been an uptick in the development of survival bunkers for the rich. Here are a few of the reasons that this seems to be happening.

California Has About One Year Of Water Left – I don’t buy into global warming/global cooling/climate change and all the garbage (especially political) that goes along with it. Regardless of which side of climate change you fall on, there are some legitimate concerns out there. You know, like the disappearance of water…even if it were only temporary. This solidifies one of the basic principles of preparedness, water storage. Check this out and see what you think.

Adopting Dogs As Survival Animals – This is a sound principle. I think that if you have the capability (property, finances, etc.) to have a few dogs, you should. They have many great qualities that allow them to fit perfectly into a long term survival plan. This is especially true when it comes to security and hunting. I love that my dog can stay inside with us but some day when I have my forever home with some property, I intend to have some well taken care of animals that can keep an eye on what is going on outside.

What Kind Of Person Is A Prepper? – A tool that can assist in self-reflection, do you have these qualities? If not, what qualities do you have, or not have, that makes you a prepper?

The 10 Best Garden Vegetables For Beginner Preppers – A vegetable garden is a must for survival. This is an area where it seems like it can be done well or not at all sometimes but for the most part, it just takes a little practice. If you are looking to get started with gardening, here are 10 vegetable to get started with.

Thats it for me this week! While the world doesn’t seem to be getting any better, all we can do is prepare for the worst while hoping for the best.

If you found something that you would like to share with the group or have any questions, email me at tom@thepreparedninja.com.
