Monday Mania – 3.21.2016

The big story for me this week is that I have 10 days left until my ruck march to prevent veteran suicide. I am getting closer to my goal of raising $500 for this great cause. So far I have raised almost $200 and every $1 helps! I thank those who have already shown their support. For those who may not be able to contribute, if you could at least share my goal with those on social media I would appreciate it.

I’m good for the most part, my family is good for the most part, and more than anything, I thank God for the opportunity to live my life!

Other than that, I’m buried at work so I hope this makes it out on time!

I hope y’all have a great week!

MY FINDS FOR LAST WEEK:

It’s Time To Stock Up On Ammunition – Coming from within the ammunition manufacturing sector itself, and I could not agree more, it is time to stock up on ammunition.

Survival Sunday

This week leaves me without a lot to report. I spent all of my work time and a good chunk of my personal time working through a health care administration course for work. It was hours upon hours of taking data, lots of data, and putting it together to make something meaningful out of it. It was worthwhile and will be helpful at work but to be honest, this type of work is not always of great interest to me. What is important is that my family is taken care of, just like prepping.

Next Thursday (July 16th) at 8 pm EDT is the Sun Oven Cooking Essentials class. Have you signed up yet? It’s not too late if you haven’t. Register here if you would like to learn how to use the power of the sun to cook, bake, dehydrate, and even purify water. I’ll see you there!

Here are my favorite finds this week:

When The Trucks Stop Delivering, ‘The System’ Will Collapse – It is not a surprise that if trucks stopped rolling down the interstate, the logistics in the country would come grinding to a halt. There are many threats that could cause such a catastrophe. Here is a look at how it might happen and what it might look like.

No Firefighters, No Power & You Have A Fire – Fire is a big threat if you are not careful. This is especially true if you heat your house with fire. What would you do if 911 was not available. Better yet, plan now so that your risk of fire is as low as possible.

21 Prepper Tips I Wish I’d Heard BEFORE I Started Prepping – Getting prepared is not always about what you do. Sometimes it is about how you do it. A little bit of planning can go a long way and these tips are great points to review, whether you are just getting started or have been at it for a while. All of these tips are good but I think that #21 is my favorite.

25 Terrible Truths About TEOTWAWKI – It is worth considering the fact that some of the realities of prepping include ongoing research and redesign of your plans and processes. This list is worth taking a look at.

10 Tips For Bugging Out To The Country – There are many prepping types that like the idea of ditching the urban or suburban environment and bugging out to the country if things get rough. These ten tips could be useful if you would like to make the country your post-apocalyptic refuge or if you live in the country and find others wanting to make your home their refuge.

Not surprisingly, in the wake of the Charleston, SC shootings, Gun Sales Reached Record Highest Last Month

There is no shortage of madness in the world:

Seattle Councilman Proposes Ridiculous Firearm & Ammo Tax – Seattle City Council President Tim Burgess proposed a solution to pay for the violence that occurs in the Emerald City, a $25 tax on all firearms sold and 5 cents on every bullet. That’s a method but is that really the best way? Will they also tax illegally obtained firearms? I wouldn’t be surprised to see more liberal strongholds try this tactic.

New MTV Show Publicly Shames White People For “What They’ve Done In America” – Just read it and weep.

School Threatens To Take Kids If Parents Are Late For Pickup – Sadly, this is the school district where I got all of my education. It was great then. I wonder what happened to it.

That’s a wrap for me this week. As always, I hope that you all have had a great week and keep getting ready for tough times. It seems like we get closer every day to something unfortunate coming along.

Got Ammo?

Being a gun owner has been especially challenging lately. Especially if you wish to actually obtain ammunition to be able to use the firearm(s) that you own. There is a beta site, GUNBOT, that I stumbled upon that offers near realtime tracking of ammo dealers that have ammo in stock.

OK, so besides consolidating available ammunition into one place, what is so great about the site? Gunbot allows the user to search by caliber while limiting the search by price per round and even allows an alarm to be set that will sound if the “good deal” threshold is met. That is, an available listing that is at a price point at/below the price per round that the user can set. Additionally, the site automatically updates every time there is a change to the available stock.

In addition to in stock ammunition, Gunbot also tracks inventory of magazines and reloading equipment.

Ammunition inventory and prices tracked on the Gunbot Beta site come from the following online retailers:

How is your stock of ammo holding up? Maybe the Department of Homeland Security has a few spare rounds laying about…

Are Guns & Ammo The New Gold?

Gun ownership statistics continue to rise across America.  I stumbled across this great chart on a link at the National Rifle Association website and thought it would be worth sharing.  Things are not looking to get any better for the U.S. of A. and it looks like more and more Americans are responding with the decision to exercise their God-given right to bear arms that is guaranteed by the Second Amendment.

The following information comes to you courtesy of ammo.net and outlines the increasing trends of gun purchases since 1999:
