Monday Mania – 3.21.2016

The big story for me this week is that I have 10 days left until my ruck march to prevent veteran suicide. I am getting closer to my goal of raising $500 for this great cause. So far I have raised almost $200 and every $1 helps! I thank those who have already shown their support. For those who may not be able to contribute, if you could at least share my goal with those on social media I would appreciate it.

I’m good for the most part, my family is good for the most part, and more than anything, I thank God for the opportunity to live my life!

Other than that, I’m buried at work so I hope this makes it out on time!

I hope y’all have a great week!

Monday Tuesday Mania – 3.15.2016

Well…I am sure it’s probably obvious by now but I missed my mark by not getting this post out yesterday. I wish I had a great story behind the reasoning for it but there were no zombies, no Sasquatch, and certainly not any aliens. I just plain got tied up with things and didn’t make it.

That said, this week is pretty brief.

I would really like to say thank you to all who have donated toward my goal of raising $500 to help prevent veteran suicide. It really means more to me than I could ever convey here.

Most of my week will be absorbed by work and medical appointments, as was last week. In my spare time this week my biggest goal is to spend as much time with my son’s as I can while they are on Spring Break.

I hope y’all have a great week!

MY FINDS FOR LAST WEEK:

Every Day Carry: How Much is Too Much? – This is a very individual question simply because what is too much for one, may not be nearly enough for another. That’s one reason you see Soldiers in combat dressed like modern day American police officers.

40 Unique Places to Stash Firearms – I have heard several of these before but I see a few new ones too. My favorite is probably either #9 or #13.

Life on the Streets: 10 Lessons I Learned From the Homeless – There is some great knowledge to gain from this short article. More importantly, take the time to consider those who are successful at living homeless and how they are able to do so.

How to Dress to Avoid Suspicion, Blend In During a Crisis: “Be a Grey Man” – Urban camouflage is always a good idea. If all you have in your SHTF inventory is military camo, what are you going to look like to everyone else? It will probably be either the enemy or the enemy, depending on which side you are on of course.

Who Is a Threat To You? “Dangerous People to Avoid After the Collapse”If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle. – Sun Tzu

If you did not get a chance to read my last post, Can You Spare a $1?, I would ask that you please take a chance to look it over. I titled the article with a specific meaning behind it. If everyone who receives this email gave $1, I would easily pass my goal of raising $500 to combat veteran suicide. Thank you for your consideration.

In other news….there is not much going on. It seems like we are stuck in that rut of a busy family scrambling all week to do what “needs” to get done. My goal is to eventually reach a point where I am doing more living and less working. I just need to find out where that is going to take place.

I hope that y’all have a great week!

Monday Mania – 2.29.2016

It is officially the last 29th of February until 2020! I have seen a large number of errors being made when writing the date today. There are a bunch of people who want it to be March already.

There is not much to report for me this week.

I worked, I played, and I got soaked trying to fix the shower. I don’t know what I was thinking but I over tightened the screw that controls the water. When I went to loosen it, I turned the water on and it sprayed all over me. Luckily, I still have pretty good reflexes and I was able to limit the amount of water that covered me. If nothing else, it was good for a laugh.

My oldest son has battled some medical problems for almost a decade now. This week has been pretty good for him. It’s probably the best week he has had in the last year and a half. We have seen great improvement in his personality and demeanor. This is truly a blessing from God. We have struggled to get to this point. I pray that things continue down this path. Your prayers are always appreciated as well.

I hope that y’all have a great week!

Monday Mania – 2.22.2016

It seems hard to believe that it has been a week already since the last Monday Mania. Last week was nice because of the holiday on Monday. I wish I could work a four day work week every week. At this point it does not look like that will happen anytime soon, if ever.

Aside from a busy week at work, I mostly hung out with family and did a little woodworking. My two youngest sons (6 & 10) have been playing with the Nerf dart guns in the neighborhood with some other kids and they insisted that they needed a riot shield, like the ones used by the police, to block enemy fire. It was fun and they are enjoying them so that is all that matters. If I can remember, I will post a picture of one next week.

I also have a future project in mind that will require a fair quantity of 2 x 4 dimensional lumber. This is not horrifically expensive but it will cost money. I noticed there were two houses that were being framed not too far from our house so I waiting until the completion of the framing and then asked the crew if I could help myself to their “trash.” I was able to salvage quite a few pieces of 2 x 4. This is something to keep in mind when working on projects of your own, not everything has to be new all the time and why spend money on something that you could get for free?

Maybe I am just practicing my salvaging skills for the post-apocalyptic world.

I hope that y’all have a great week!

MY FINDS FOR LAST WEEK:

4 Steps to True Freedom and Independence – While short and to the point, if you can master these four steps you will probably end up better off than 99% of the rest of the population.

China Buying US Farmland and The Lesson of Hengist and Vortigern – A good warning to heed. But don’t worry, I don’t think that Americans will wake up until it is already too late. It’s already not looking good and I can only imagine what it will look like going forward.

The Role of Religion in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election – This is a very interesting look at how religious beliefs are shifting in the United States and how this will play a role in the presidential election this year.
