Happy Independence Day!
Today marks 239 years since America made the commitment to be independent from all other governments. I am eternally grateful for what our Founding Fathers have done for us. It takes a special breed of man to knowingly commit acts that others will interpret as treason.
Even with everything going on in our country that makes wonder about the state of things, I still think that these United States of America is the best place in the world to be. My only hope is that we do not lose focus on the freedom and liberties (all of them) that have been endowed to us by our Creator.
THESE are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated.

More than anything, I hope that everyone has a great day and has the opportunity to reflect on what having our independence really means. It doesn’t hurt to have a little fun too. I will be spending my day hanging out with my wife and sons and then we will be capping our night off with a concert by Collective Soul, Salute to the Union, and of course…fireworks!
